Airline worker charged with thefts in Dallas

Authorities say an American Eagle airline worker has been charged with stealing jewelry from passengers' luggage at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Jose Alberto Peralta of Fort Worth was arrested last week on a theft charge after a co-worker told security he had seen Peralta take items from bags. An arrest report says Peralta was found with about $230 worth of stolen women's jewelry and sunglasses in his backpack. TSA worker accused of swiping $22,000 in watches

Officials with American Eagle, a regional affiliate of American Airlines, declined comment Wednesday.

The case is being turned over to the Dallas County district attorney's office, which didn't know whether Peralta has a lawyer.

Peralta also faces a charge of tampering with government records. Authorities say he provided a false birthdate on his airport badge application.
