Ask Engadget: best 'money is no object' laptop?

Image

We know you've got questions, and if you're brave enough to ask the world for answers, here's the outlet to do so. This week's Ask Engadget inquiry is coming to us from Chris, who simply has too much money to blow on a super-laptop. If you're looking to send in an inquiry of your own, drop us a line at ask [at] engadget [dawt] com.

"I sold my business and I want to replace my laptop [HP Pavilion G6] with a completely unreasonably expensive top of the line machine. I want it to do everything I do (gaming, coding, web design) all at the same time. Apart from the fact I need two hard drive bays, I'm completely open-minded, so what should I be buying? Thank you!"

Quell your gnashing teeth, members of the 99 percent, he's done well for himself and now he needs our help. We were able to trick out an Alienware M18x to full capacity for $6,700 -- with an over-clocked 4GHz Intel Core i7 CPU, 32GB of RAM, two 2GB NVIDIA GTX 675M GPUs in SLI mode and 1.2TB of SSD RAID storage. That's the benchmark, folks: who out there can find something more powerful?

Justin Bieber and his manager Scooter Braun were at the Tribeca Film Festival on Friday (April 27) to accept the 2012 Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Award for disrupting "the traditional gatekeepers of the music industry."

Sporting a varsity jacket when he took the stage, the 18-year-old noted that a lot of what he does is a reflection of his relationship with his fans. "I don't think that I would be here without the Internet. The fans feel connected to me," he said, ABC News reports.

According to The Huffington Post, he recalled his early days of posting videos on YouTube under the moniker KidRauhl and how he was skittish of Braun, initially.

"He called me, and my mom was like, 'Why am I going to trust a guy named Scooter?' " Bieber said. "So she ignored him, and he started calling all of the places where he saw me sing in my videos. ... It was some really creepy stuff. He finally found my great aunt, who I had never met before, to try and get in contact with me."

Of those early days, Braun joked, "Either I was going to be the guy who watches videos of a young boy on the Internet and gets arrested, or I was going to sign him."

The award seems fitting, given how much Bieber's rise to fame has changed the way talent can be discovered via the internet, and can use technology to spread the word. "Ever since then," Bieber said, "We've been taking the world by storm."

Next up, Bieber plans to storm the charts with his June album release, Believe. He's expected to drop his "Boyfriend" video soon in the lead-up to the album.

Progress 46, a Russian cargo spacecraft carrying about a ton of space waste, is schedule to splash down into the Pacific ocean today, at approximately 6:45pm Moscow time. The spacecraft's specifically targeted "burial site" is in a remote region of the water, far from any shipping routes, though by the time it's splashed down into the blue the dense layers of the Earth's atmosphere will have burned the Progress into a not-too-threatening debris. Cleaning Up With High-Tech Housekeeping Tools

Marla Cilley, aka the FlyLady, knows a thing or two about housecleaning. One of those things is that it's hard to get motivated to do it. To address this problem, she created an empire around inspiring others to step up their housecleaning game. "We do behavior modification through email, Facebook and Twitter, and that behavior modification helps our members establish simple habits and string them into a routine," said Cilley.
