More than 100 people saved a life in the Lowcountry over the weekend during a three-day adoption event at the Charleston Animal Society shelter.
The Adopt-A-Thon broke records, with 127 dog and cat adoption in 3 days, to help ease the crowding at the shelter.
Amber Smyly, with the Charleston Animal Society, explained, "We were having some space issues?it's that time of year when we're getting more crowded with adult dogs and cats. It's puppy and kitten season so we're trying to get them out and the community has stepped forward and really helped us out."
Director of Marketing and Public Relations Kay Hyman said the shelter could be overcrowded again by next weekend. If you want to learn more about adopting a pet, go to charlestonanimalsociety.org.
