A year and a half after the EF4 tornado rolled through Wadena, the trail side of Tapley Park is being cleaned up.

Adam Leverson, a WDC sophomore, chose to lead the project along Thursday and Friday, Dec. 29-30, working toward his Eagle Scout rank.

His dad and several other volunteers pitched in.

?Ron Bucholz mentioned it to me and so I decided it would be a good project,? Leverson said.

Bucholz, who is the public works director, showed him around the affected area on the south side of Tapley Park which was still run down after the June 17, 2010 tornado.

Leverson said they are primarily cleaning up fallen trees and tangled brush and planned to use a wood chipper for the bigger trees.

Unusually warm and dry weather has helped the project, along with other recovery projects in the area.
