'Bachelorette' Ashley gets ringing endorsement

NEW YORK?? "Bachelorette" Ashley Hebert has picked her match made in network TV heaven.

The last man standing on the ABC dating reality show "The Bachelorette" is J.P. Rosenbaum from New York's Long Island. Hebert chose the 34-year-old construction manager over winemaker Ben Flajnik from California in Monday's two-hour finale.

Tabloids and blogs have speculated for weeks that Rosenbaum was the season's winner.

Hebert is a 26-year-old Madawaska, Maine, native. She now lives in Philadelphia and attends dental school.

She's the seventh "Bachelorette" in the show's history. She competed on "The Bachelor" for Brad Womack's affections in season 15.

Last year, Chinese scientists showed off some new old-school tech, transmitting data with blue LEDs that flicker faster than the human eye can perceive. This throwback back to the good ol' days of IR receivers was able to hit speeds of 2Mbps, but leave it to the fine folks at the Heinrich Hertz Institute to push the light bulb networking tech to the extremes. Earlier this year researchers hit 500Mbps with white LEDs now, using a combination of white, green, blue, and red, the team ramped that up to 800Mbps, officially putting Ethernet on notice. The line-of-site networking wont actually replace your standard Cat 5 line or WiFi router, but it could find a home in places like hospitals where radio-based wireless technology can cause problems for sensitive equipment. With any luck, we'll soon be bathing our homes in HD-streaming illumination.

TRAPPER CREEK, Alaska (AP) ? Two single-engine float planes collided as they flew near an Alaskan lake and one of them crashed and burned, killing the four people aboard, authorities said. The second plane landed safely despite significant damage.

The Cessna 180 was destroyed by the impact and fire, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor told The Associated Press.

"It was engulfed in flames on the ground," Alaska State Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said.

The crash around Amber Lake near Trapper Creek, 80 miles north of Anchorage, came nearly three weeks after another in-flight collision that remarkably left the 13 people aboard the two aircraft unhurt.

The second plane in Saturday's crash, a Cessna 206, sustained significant damage but was able to return to Anchorage International Airport and make an emergency landing, after the collision around Amber lake near Trapper Creek.

Pilot Kevin Earp, 56, of Eagle River was alone in the aircraft and uninjured, Peters said in a news release.

She said late Saturday that four bodies were recovered from the wreckage. Authorities initially said at least two people were killed.

The State Medical Examiner's office was working to identify the dead.

There was no immediate word on how the collision occurred.

On July 10, nine people aboard a Piper Navajo and four people in a Cessna 206 were uninjured when the planes collided. Both aircraft had minor damage but were able to land safely in Anchorage, with FAA spokesman Mike Fergus then describing the incident as "almost unheard of."
